Claims Resolution Service
In negotiations with insurance companies, most homeowners and business people are at a distinct disadvantage. While insurance companies are experts in their field, their clients are not. Clients struggle with the specialised terminology and interpretations of their policies. They're often unsure exactly what their policies entitle them to and how to insist on these entitlements. Our claims resolutions service experts can use their knowledge and expertise to improve your insurance claim.
Insurance claims are the result of negotiations between you and your insurance company. As in any negotiation, information and the ability to communicate appropriately is power. Our Claims Resolution Service speaks the language of the insurance industry, thereby levelling the playing field. We also know how to access relevant information as your insurer may be filtering the information they share with you or they may not have the correct information. We are on your side with accurate information and extensive experience in the insurance industry, giving you more control over the insurance settlement process.

Citizens versus Insurance Companies
Thousands of homes and properties in Christchurch have been classified as rebuilds or are in one of areas which have been 'red-zoned'. Insurance companies, keen to minimise their losses, often do not offer clients their full entitlement unless forced to do so and rely on 90% of claimants being 'shaken out of the tree' ie settling for less than their full entitlement. However you have undoubtedly spent years establishing the assets involved as well as paying your insurance premiums for years. Why, therefore, should you settle for 50-70% of your full entitlement.
If your home or commerical property has been classified by the government as being in the Red Zone, you may struggle to get your full entitlement, especially if your house has been classified as a 'repair'. However, we consider that if you have been red-zoned, this is what is called a 'Constructive Loss' in the insurance industry and you are entitled to full replacement or the equivalent depending on the terms of your policy.

The process for getting full entitlement
- You may be required to establish that your home or commercial property is a total rebuild. If you do, CRS can provice a full assessment with rebuild costs on a like-for-like basis and to current building code, ensuring full entitlement under your insurance policy.
- Information is power. Gather all documents relating to your claim. Get as much information as possible relating to your home, building codes, possible legal steps (e.g. requesting information from EQC or your insurers under the Official Information Act). Clarify what you are entitled to under your insurance policy.
- Go to mediation. CRS has experienced insurance mediators who will make sure that insurers do not consider you one of the 90% of claimants that can be easily 'shaken out of the tree'.
- Engage a solicitor experienced in insurance law, preferably one without possible links to insurance companies in Christchurch. This lawyer may be able to conclude negotiations or may have to file an application in the District or High Courts to show insurance companies that you are not going to go away until your have received your legal entitlement.
Our Policy
CRS recognises that dealing with insurance companies, lawyers and mediators can be daunting as is dealing with the piles of associated paperwork. Insurance companies rely on the fact that many claimants are overwhelmed and give up before achieving a truly satisfactory and fair result. They are also aware that claimants are scared off by the costs that can be incurred during the claim process. We take some of this pressure of you by offering the choice of a pay-as-you-go or a no-win, no-pay system.
